Barrel Ferment Pinot Gris 2019

Following on from the success of the 2018 Barrel Ferment Pinot Gris, our winemaking team of Grant Taylor/Jen Parr have once again created another rather special drop.

Bright, straw-yellow with some depth, lighter on edge. The nose is full, layered with nuances of smoke, toasted almonds and a hint of caramel, underlying green pear and citrus. Medium-full bodied, aromas of salted nuts, dry caramel, toast, underlined pear, grapefruit zest, and five-spice unveil and linger on the closing. Savoury lees elements enhanced the barrel element and spice, growing with breadth and depth on the palate. The wine is mouth-filling, chalky mineral adorns an oily texture, flows with lively acidity to a fulsome finish. This is a savoury Pinot Gris with barrel ferment details, enliven by a lively mineral drive. Match with butternut risotto and five-spiced chicken over the next 3-4 years.
